1997 a Notable Peek
1997 was a trying time for the originals of #Gaypunk. As the Internet boom took hold in the
United States, an increasing number of newbies flooded IRC. Chaos took over and proved to be
the driving force of the channel. By February 1998, many of the Regulars moved on to other
areas of IRC as the greatness of the #Gaypunk channel became diluted.
Come June 1998, a bit of stablility on IRC showed face as the Internet boom passed by. The
aftermath left us a new #Queerpunk leaving the foundation of #Gaypunk and the times spent
there.
This site is mainly kept as a History of #Gaypunk for those like myself who remember the past
while looking forward to the future. #Queerpunk listings will also be maintained on this
site separated in someway from the #Gaypunk Regulars.
