The San Dimas Community News
The San Dimas Community News was established in 1995 to serve the needs of the community of San Dimas, California and is located approximately 30 miles East of downtown Los Angeles in the San Gabriel / Pomona Valleys.
This unique community nestled at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains maintains an early western theme in its downtown area with wooden sidewalks and early western storefronts. A number of antique dealers are located in the Frontier Village. City Hall is graced with a larger than life bronze statue of Jedediah Strong Smith, one of the earliest explorers to cross the mountains into California and camp at Mud Springs in 1826. San Dimas, or Mud Springs as it was known in the 1800's encompasses an area of 15 square miles, and has a population of approximately 35,000 with a business base of small to medium sized businesses that number over 1,200.
The San Dimas Community News is published monthly, and is direct mailed to each residential and business address on the first Friday of the month. The current circulation is approximately 15,000 per month with copies going to City, State, and County elected officials. Several hundred copies of the publication are circulated to hospitals, hotels, motels, financial institutions, community centers, and public buildings such as the City Hall and local library. The publication prospers through its advertising revenue derived not only from local businesses, but additionally from surrounding communities that wish to penetrate the marketplace that San Dimas offers.
The San Dimas Community News is published as a tabloid size with a four color format for advertising and photo reproduction. Competitive advertising rates are offered and range from single entries to six month contracts with substantial discounts for long term advertisers.
A number of contributing and staff writers provide local news and articles of general interest to the community. Articles and press releases are accepted for publication on a space permitting basis with a monthly deadline of the 15th of the current month for the following month's publication.
